There is not much that I can say about the Sigma 18-50 apart from the fact that it is a nice fast, standard zoom lens. Its best features is definitely the price and compact nature of the lens but it is cable of some decent shots as well. The lens fares best at center sharpness, which is very good no matter which settings you use. Border sharpness is also very good at most settings but I did notice some softness when shooting at the 50mm end using an f/2.8 aperture. The 18mm end was fine although there is some noticeable barrel distortion, which is not present at any other focal length. Perhaps the biggest drawback of the lens would be how poor it handles chromatic aberrations. These very noticeable at 18mm although it is present in some of the other focal lengths as well. This is a pity as I have no other issues with the lens.

While the Nikon 10.5mm is capable of some very cool effects due to the amount of distortion I do not think that there are many photographers out there that will really use it to its full potential. The build quality of the lens is up to the usual Nikkor standards and everything except chromatic aberrations and obviously distortion, is kept well under control. While this lens will be very useful to photographers that specialize in something like aerial photography its practical uses are rather limited. I have heard that it is also perfect for underwater photography but I suspect divers will already have specialized equipment to work with. I definitely would not recommend this lens to beginners because while it is fun at first you will soon grow bored of taking distorted photos. It is capable of producing some very creative results but you have to ask yourself if it is worth the price tag.

The Nikon 105 DC lens is one of my favorite portraiture lens. It is by no mean a cheap lens. It is well made from solid material and this lens can withstand a lot of abuse. Although I am not planning to take this lens out of the studio, accidents do happen everywhere and this lens will give you a piece of mind. When you use this lens for portraiture, it provides a good skin color and contrast. A good skin color and contrast is something that you will rarely get with traditional kit lenses. The glass design and elements on this lens are simply made for this purpose. The best part about this lens is its ability to control the bokeh. There is a mechanism inside the lens that will allow you to control the amount of out of focus blur produced from this lens. The bokeh result is simply amazing and I cannot imagine how it can get any better.
